Remarks
Doctor Tsai joined TSMC and served as an R&D department manager in 1989 then successfully developed 1.0 and 0.8 μm devices and manufactured them. During serving as plant manager of Fab 1 and Fab4, Doctor Tsai established the system of factory management and quality control, helping TSMC build the foundation of manufacturing advantage. In 2000, Doctor Tsai lead a TSMC 12 inch wafer team that turned the 8-inch manufacturing process into a 12-inch manufacturing process within one year which makes TSMC the first company with the ability of manufacturing 12-inch wafers. Doctor Tsai has been one of the Executives for many years and served many important duties of TSMC, including RD manager、plant manager of Fab1 and Fab4、backend testing manager、vice president of quality and reliability.

Doctor Tsai interacts with NTHU frequently. During his served in NTHU from 1989 to 1993, he took classes at the EE department for seven semesters. Many of his students at that time become plant managers now in Hsin-chu science park. Doctor Tsai has also served as director of the Alumni association of NTHU for two terms and served as the chairman of the Alumni association of the physics department. He also donates to his alma mater and physics department initiatively and funds idea hub、tennis team、badminton team、international standard team, etc. Doctor Tsai is the College of Science Outstanding Alumni and a member of Tsing Hua Club One Hundred through supporting donation project of alma mater.
